Castaic is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, with a 2020 population of 18,937. Located 38 miles northwest of Los Angeles, it lies along Interstate 5 and is near Castaic Lake, part of the California Water Project and site of a hydroelectric plant.
